Knowing that parts are not easy to find around Kiev - a camaro c Ford 2.9 лучше, чем camaro с цветами внутри сидит. If I was trying to save money, I would prefer to hone the cylinders in the 5.7, re-ring the pistons, and add a cam with milled heads - but again, easy to do here with parts everywhere.
It looks like at best he had 185hp and 280 torque. With a rebuild it could be an easy 300hp, 350 torque. As long as he takes the mufflers off to make it loud - I can dig it.
But impotant note with US cars - when we experienced the OPEC oil embargo in the mid 70's, our horsepower went from 350/425 to 180/200 with minimal efficiency. Our govenrnment mandated fuel efficiency and air quality standards overnight and our automakers added air pumps and funny gadgets to comply. By '82 GM was doing a "better" job with fuel economy in the V6 - but at 112hp, it still wasn't pretty.
1978 Camaro US Specs:
Code- Engine- Horsepower / Torque
Sport Coupe- 5.7L- 170 hp /270 lb-ft
Z28- 5.7L- 185 hp / 280 lb-ft
in Europe we are using N\m instead of Lb\Ft, so Z28 has 280lb\ft X 1.35(5) = 378 Nm - i think it's great torque. How much n\m have 2.9 ford? i think near 190
about GM 82-92 V6
112 hp is L4 2.5
V6 2.8 have 135hp and 216Nm torque
V6 3.1 140hp and 244Nm torque
и ещё незнаю как правильно на англицком написать. Мотору таких лет (я про 5.7) замена колец не поможет - у него овальная выработка поршней - нужны новые поршня, хотя можно найти афтермаркет по 20 баксов
